How do I program my vehicle's HomeLink system with my Raynor opener?
Please follow the following steps:

  1. Press and hold the two outside HomeLink buttons—releasing only when the indicator light begins to flash rapidly (after 20 seconds). Some vehicles may require the ignition to be in the "ON" position during the entire programming process.
  2. Hold the end of the hand-held remote control (transmitter) you wish to train approximately 1-3 inches from the HomeLink surface—keeping the indicator light in view.
  3. Simultaneously press and hold both the hand-held transmitter button and the designated HomeLink button—releasing both buttons only when the indicator light changes from a slow to a rapid blink.
  4. Press the "SMART BUTTON" or "LEARN BUTTON" on the Raynor opener for one second and release. (Note: you only have 30 seconds in which to initiate step 5.)
  5. Return to the vehicle and firmly press the programmed HomeLink button TWO times (press and hold each time for two seconds). The garage door opener should have activated upon the second press of the HomeLink button.

Note: HomeLink equipped vehicle models manufactured in 1995, 1996, and early 1997 will not be compatible. To determine if a 1997 HomeLink equipped vehicle is Security + compatible, follow steps 1-3 above. Upon the completion of steps 1-3, press and hold the programmed HomeLink. If the LED blinks rapidly for two seconds and then turns solid, the HomeLink is rolling code compatible and the remaining programming steps can be completed. If the LED is solid when the programmed button is pressed, then the HomeLink is not compatible.

What type of light bulb does my opener use?
DO NOT USE CFL LIGHT BULBS.
CFL bulbs send out a radio interference that may reduce or interrupt the range of your remote control. This signal may also interrupt the voltage in your opener which can negatively affect the logic board. In the area of energy efficiency, the linear operators we have installed have only one light bulb rather than 2, reducing by 50% the electricity required to operate the light. You may substitute a 40 watt for a 60 watt light bulb reducing the energy usage by 33%.

Does the remote control have a battery?
Your Raynor remote is battery operated. As the battery weakens the signal the remote sends to the garage door opener weakens. If the remote begins to operate intermittently, change the battery. If the problem continues call your local Raynor representative. Batteries can be purchased at Longs, Radio Shack, etc. To replace the battery use the visor clip or a screwdriver blade to pry open the case. Insert the battery positive side up (+).

My garage door won't open or close with the remote control?
There are several possible solutions:
1) Move closer to the door (you may be out of range).
2) Make sure that the antenna on the motor unit is hanging down.
3) If the door functions fine with the wall switch, replace the battery in the remote. To replace the battery use the visor clip or a screwdriver blade to pry open the case. Insert the battery positive side up (+).
4) Reprogram the remotes.
5) Make sure there is a standard type light bulb in the motor not a CFL.
6) Verify your door control is not blinking. If it is blinking, deactivate the Lock Mode.
7) If the remote will still not activate your door, check the diagnostic LED for flashes on the motor unit then refer to Diagnostic Chart.

My garage door reverses before hitting the floor.
Check your sensors to make sure they are aligned and nothing is in the way. There is a LED indicator light on one of the photo eyes. When the eyes are lined up the light is green. When the eyes are out of alignment or something is in the way of the photo eyes the light turns red. The photo eyes can be easily realigned by hand until the light turns green. The close force may need adjusting. Contact your local Raynor service technician.

My door reverses for no apparent reason.
Manually check door for balance or binding problems. To do this, close the door and then pull the red disconnect rope on your garage door opener. After pulling the disconnect rope the door should stay on or close to the floor. Next, raise the door about half way open, the door should stay at that position. And finally, raise the door all the way to the open position, where the door should remain open. If your door fails any of these tests, please contact your local Raynor service technician for an force adjustment.

The limit switch may need adjusting. Perform the Safety Reverse test after making any adjustments.

The opener doesn't operate from either the remote control or door control.
Does the opener have electric power? Plug a lamp into the outlet. If it doesn't light check the fuse box or the circuit breaker. Is this outlet controlled by a wall switch? Have you disabled all the door locks? The garage door spring may be broken. Contact your local Raynor service technician. Repeated operation may have tripped the overload protector in the motor. Wait 15 minutes and try again.

My opener operates from the remote, but not from the door control.
Is the door wall station control lit? If not, reverse the wires. If the opener runs, check for a faulty wire connection at the control, a short under the staples, or a broken wire.

Is the door wall station push bar flashing? If your model has the Lock feature, make sure it is off. Program the opener to match the remote control code.

At Installation

What should I use to lubricate my garage door?
To maintain your warranty, lubricate your garage door at least once a year with Raynor Door Lube. This specially formulated lubricant can be purchased from Servco Raynor. Apply the door lube to each of the following areas of the door: hinges, rollers (bearings and shafts), springs and end bearings (located at each end of the spring shaft). Once the application is completed, open and close the door to distribute the lubricant. Spray lubricants are the easiest to use. Make sure you use a lubricant, not a solvent (WD 40 is a solvent).

Painting Instructions.
All Raynor residential steel garage doors are already painted with a baked-on finish. No additional painting is required. If you want to apply another color, however, the following steps are required.

Please note that these instructions do not apply to StyleView residential aluminum doors, or doors that are purchased with ArmorFinish or AccuFinish. We do not recommend painting these doors and doing so will void your warranty.

NOTE: Only paint the exterior of the door while it is in the closed position.

  1. Use the following solution, with a soft bristle brush, to remove mildew and other surface contaminants:
    • 1 cup household Spic n Span® detergent
    • 5 gallons warm water
  2. Rinse thoroughly with water.
  3. Use a powder cleanser like Comet®, diluted with water, with a soft bristle brush, to prepare the surface for better paint adhesion. Do not use sandpaper, deglossers, or liquid sandpaper to prepare the door surface.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with water and allow to dry.
  5. Use a high quality acrylic latex exterior paint. Apply according to manufacturer's instructions. Do not use oil-based paint or any "rust-inhibitive" paint. Do not paint in direct sunlight or when surface is warm to the touch.Lap marks will result. Brush application is recommended.
  6. Avoid getting paint on any gasket seals between door sections. Not all Raynor doors have these gasket seals.
IMPORTANT: Since Raynor has no control over recoating, we do not warrant this product against peeling of the original factory-applied baked-on finish or subsequent coats of paint where recoating has occurred.
